Auckland has a warm-temperate climate with typical daytime temperatures ranging from 12 – 20 degrees Celsius in April.
The currency used is New Zealand dollar. Banking hours are usually 0900 -1600hrs, Monday to Friday. Automatic Teller Machines are well spread throughout Auckland. International credit cards are accepted throughout the country at banks, most hotels and city stores.

Good and Services Tax
Goods and Services in New Zealand are subject to a 15% tax (GST). This tax is usually included in the price and if not, it is clearly stated. This tax cannot be claimed back by visitors, when leaving the country.
It is strongly recommended that you purchase comprehensive travel insurance to cover the duration of your visit to New Zealand and to protect against cancellation charges, loss or damage to your luggage and personal effects, loss of cash and medical expenses.
Name badges will be given to all delegates on registration. We ask that you wear your badge at all times, including social functions. Entry tickets will be given for all social and optional events.
SkyCity Auckland: Car parking is available in the SkyCity carpark. Entrances are on Federal Street and Hobson Street. A discounted parking rate is available if you ‘validate’ your parking ticket at the parking validation machine located on Level 4 of the SkyCity Convention Centre.
Valet Parking is $35 each day, with unlimited access.

Public transport in Auckland

The free Essential New Zealand travel app from Tourism New Zealand is available from the App Store and Google play. Make the most of your stay without the need for an internet connection.

Transport from the Auckland Airport to Auckland City
A taxi fare from the Auckland Airport to the city centre is around $90 one way. Taxi ranks are located outside the arrivals area (door 8) at the international terminal. You can pre-book your taxi on the website or just turn up at the terminal ranks – taxis are always available.
Super Shuttle offers a shared ride option. The approximate cost for the trip from the airport to the city is $35 one way for one person. The shuttles operate from the Shuttle rank at the airport (not the taxi rank) located outside the arrivals area (door 8). Bookings can be made on the Super Shuttle website or just turn up at the terminal ranks.
New Zealand is one of the first places in the world to see the new day, 12 hours ahead of GMT (Greenwich Mean Time).
No vaccinations are required to enter New Zealand.
All visitors to New Zealand must have a passport which is valid for at least three months beyond the intended stay in New Zealand. Visa information and the visa application form are available on www.immigration.govt.nz. If you require a Visitor’s Visa, please allow at least 5-6 weeks for processing.
Visa Waiver Countries
Citizens of some countries do not need to apply for a visa before travelling to New Zealand, view the list of visa waiver countries here.
If you are a citizen of a country which has a visa waiver agreement with New Zealand, you do not need to apply for a visa to visit New Zealand but you must:
- Hold a valid ticket from New Zealand to a country where you have the right of entry
- Have sufficient money to support yourself during your stay in New Zealand
- Hold a passport valid for 3 months beyond the date you intend leaving New Zealand
- Remain in New Zealand only for the time granted on your arrival
