Thursday 9 October

12:35pm-1:20pm

Eli Lilly Industry Symposium: Tirzepatide in OSA – What does the evidence say? Part 1

Tirzepatide - What benefits for patients suffering from moderate to severe Obstructive Sleep Apnoea and Obesity. In this session, the speakers will highlight several clinical studies on Tirzepatide to showcase the results. We will go into detail about what Tirzepatide is and its dual mechanism of action (GIP/GLP-1). We will then take a closer look at two key studies – SURMOUNT-1 and SURMOUNT-OSA. Finally, we will open the floor to the audience with a Q&A session.

Speakers:
Prof Ron Grunstein, Head, Sleep & Circadian Research Group, Woolcock Institute of Medical Research
Dr Ted Wu, Specialist Endocrinologist and Director, The Diabetes Centre at The Royal Prince Alfred Hospital

Thursday 9 October

12:35pm-1:20pm

Resmed Industry Symposium: Broadening and Enhancing the OSA Care Pathway

This symposium will explore practical approaches to broadening the Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) care pathway. Doctor Ching Li Chai-Coetzer will present on the role of primary care in diagnosing and managing OSA, community-based approaches and task-sharing models that can improve access and outcomes. Doctor Moira Junge will complement this with a discussion on behavioral and communication strategies to support patients throughout the OSA journey, from initial symptom recognition to long-term adherence to therapy. The session will offer a multidisciplinary perspective on enhancing patient engagement and care delivery across the OSA continuum.

Speakers:
Assoc Prof Ching Li Chai-Coetzer, Sleep And Respiratory Physician, Adelaide Institute for Sleep Health
Dr Moira Junge, CEO / Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor, Sleep Health Foundation

Friday 10 October

7:30am-8:45am

Resmed Industry Breakfast Symposium: Practical initiation and support of patients on non-invasive ventilation

The Victorian Respiratory Support Service (VRSS) is a state-wide specialist program that cares for over approximately 1400 patients on home ventilation. The VRSS is actively involved in research and provides advice to other health professionals both within Victoria and nationally. VRSS senior physician Dr Anna Ridgers will present a practical guide to the initiation and long-term care of patients on non-invasive ventilation (NIV). The session will cover device selection, detail optimising NIV therapy with case studies and utilising remote telemonitoring for long term patient care.

Speaker:
Dr Anna Ridgers, Respiratory and Sleep Physician, Austin Health

Friday 10 October

Eli Lilly Industry Symposium: Part 2: Tirzepatide in Practice – Everything you need to know

Tirzepatide – Everything you need to know to incorporate Tirzepatide into your daily clinical practice with patients suffering from moderate to severe Obstructive Sleep Apnoea and obesity. This session will focus on the practical use of Tirzepatide: How to initiate treatment, how to use the KwikPen, an overview of the different dosing options, and a review of potential side effects. Part of the session will include a panel discussion with a GP and a sleep physician. The session will conclude with a Q&A from the audience.

Speakers:
Assoc Prof Gary Kilov, General Practitioner & Clinical Associate Professor, Launceston Diabetes Clinic / Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute

Prof Brendon Yee, Professor, The Woolcock Institute of Medical Research

Philips Industry Symposium: Shaping Sleep: AI and the Evolution of Sleep Medicine

Sleep medicine is evolving at a remarkable pace. From early therapeutic interventions to the era of AI, virtual health, and multi-omics, this thought-provoking session explores the critical crossroads in sleep science. Renowned expert Dr. Teofilo Lee-Chiong will guide delegates through the evolution of sleep disorders, the complexity of today’s diagnostic and care landscapes, and the transformative promise of future innovations. Sleep medicine is undergoing profound transformation. This symposium seeks to provide delegates with a clear and thought-provoking overview of the field’s trajectory, bridging foundational concepts with current dilemmas and emerging scientific opportunities. The presentation will integrate clinical insight with future-focused dialogue around technology, equity, and personalised models of care.

Speakers:
Mrs Michelle Drummond, Country Lead SRC ANZ, Philips
Dr Teofilo Lee-chiong, Medical Liason Lead Src, Philips

Friday 10 October

12:35pm-1:20pm

Temple Medical and Scientific Industry Symposium: Data to Decisions: How can AI, advanced flow and phenotyping personalise sleep medicine?

This interactive panel explores the transformative potential of precise airflow measurement and phenotyping in obstructive sleep apnea management, highlighting pioneering research. Moving beyond the Apnea-Hypopnea Index, it examines how advanced technologies, such as flow sensing and calibrated respiratory inductance plethysmography, deliver high-fidelity data to enable personalised treatment strategies. Crucially, the discussion emphasises that it’s not merely about AI algorithms or data generation, but how clinicians interpret and apply this information to enhance patient outcomes. Our expert panel will review practical applications of ventilatory burden, loop gain, and event-by-event phenotyping to stratify patients and optimise therapy. Attendees are invited to reflect on the critical question: we have the data—now what? Through a dynamic Q&A, the session promotes shifting from traditional metrics to mechanistic insights, bridging research and clinical practice. This symposium is essential for sleep medicine professionals dedicated to advancing patient-centric, data-driven OSA care.

Speakers:
Assoc Prof Ching Li Chai-Coetzer, Sleep And Respiratory Physician, Adelaide Institute for Sleep Health
Prof Danny Eckert, Director, Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute (FHMRI) Sleep Health
Dr Kerri Melehan, Programme Director, Sleep Medicine, University of Sydney
Carlos Teixira, Director of Clinical Affairs International, Nox Medical
